Welcome!
I am a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing a B.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication, with a concentration in Public Relations, in addition to completing a minor in Entrepreneurship. Through my past work, internship, and on-campus leadership experience, I have become proficient in public relations, marketing, event planning and logistics, advertising, and social media. I am looking to continue interning in the hopes of improving my written and verbal communication skills, broadening my expertise in different areas of communications and working my way through the industry. I hope to eventually work in the entertainment industry either in the communications department for a television network or at a global entertainment agency.
This past summer I had the opportunity to immerse myself in various areas of the public relations industry. I worked as a Consumer Marketing intern at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide in its New York City headquarters and got to gain insight into how a global communications agency operates. I also worked alongside the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) in New Orleans, LA. I was one of three UNC students selected for the expense-paid Student Projects Program and worked alongside its communication department at the annual convention. Currently, I work as a Communication/ Social Media intern in a year-long internship with UNC's Office of Undergraduate Admissions helping to recruit the next class of talented scholars.
At UNC, I am heavily involved in various student organizations that allow me to immerse myself in various aspects of public relations, community service and the performing arts. I serve as the Alumni & Community Relations Chair for the Carolina Association of Black Journalists (CABJ), a subset organization of NABJ. I also am on the Membership & Marketing Team for the General Alumni Association's Student Membership and Leadership Council. Finally, I am an executive member on Misconception Dance Company, a multicultural hip-hop dance team, and am a Public Service Scholar.
I was born in Mayaguez, Puerto-Rico and also lived in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic before moving to North Carolina. I am fluent in Spanish and enjoy staying immersed in my Latin culture by frequently traveling back to visit my relatives and childhood friends.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, listening to music, dancing, tweeting about my life and traveling. Please feel free to browse my site and contact me with any comments, questions or concerns.
